Carta Healthcare Celebrates Five Years of Significant Growth and Expansion of its AI Platform to Include 4% of U.S. Patients

With 150 hospital partners across 20 health systems, Carta Healthcare continues its vision to help healthcare organizations access and activate data to improve patient care.

San Francisco, CA – [July 19, 2022] Carta Healthcare®, provider of solutions for common healthcare data challenges through a combination of people, processes, and technology, today announced that the company is celebrating its 5th anniversary with continued substantial growth. The company now has more than 4% of all U.S. patients accessible for healthcare data science initiatives via its platform.

“Clinical staffing shortages, exacerbated by the pandemic, show no signs of slowing down. I know firsthand that the administrative burden placed on healthcare workers leads to burnout and negatively impacts care quality,” said Matt Hollingsworth, CEO and Co-founder of Carta Healthcare. “This challenge is at the heart of our vision, which remains the same today as it was five years ago: utilize a combination of human expertise and automated AI technology to help organizations instantly access and activate the patient data being generated every second.”

Carta Healthcare’s solutions are built upon the company’s proprietary Cartographer® platform. Cartographer searches, analyzes, and interprets patient and operational data across all platforms and standardizes those data into a consistent format. These standardized data sets are used by Atlas, Carta Healthcare’s technology empowered data abstraction solution for submitting to clinical registries, and Navigator products, which are purpose-built solutions for operational challenges. This foundation also enables rapid development of new products to meet customers’ specific needs and enables a data science platform for health systems to build their own applications.

Carta Healthcare has grown to support data abstraction for 20 clinical data registries. Through a combination of expert human abstractors and the company’s platform, Atlas supports more accurate, reliable, and efficient clinical data registry completion and drives evidence-based clinical insights. Through Atlas, healthcare organizations have access to a standardized healthcare data set in near-real time, while freeing up staff from the burden of time-consuming data abstraction.

Additionally, Carta Healthcare has focused on the maturation of its Navigator products to include the features and functionality that meet the varying needs of its customers. Navigator is Carta Healthcare’s complete analytics tool that uses an organization’s data to solve common healthcare operational challenges such as anesthesia coverage and operating room scheduling. Together, Atlas, Cartographer, and Navigator allow healthcare organizations to collect, analyze, and act on their data.

Since its founding in 2017, Carta Healthcare has tripled its headcount to 138 employees, including 96 new employees over the past year. Carta Healthcare’s staff is based in 31 states in the U.S., as well as in India, Pakistan, Brazil, and Canada, providing the broad experience needed to tackle healthcare’s data problems. In 2021, the company also received a $17.3M Series A round of funding led by Storm Ventures, an early-stage B2B venture firm specializing in building enterprise leaders.
