Carta Healthcare Announces Achievement as a Certified Software Vendor for Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) / American College of Cardiology (ACC)® Transcatheter Valve Therapy (TVT) Registry™

Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures make up over 84% of aortic valve replacement procedure volume, increasing the necessity and value of registry participation.

San Francisco, CA – [November 15, 2022] — Carta Healthcare®, provider of solutions for common healthcare data challenges through a combination of people, processes, and technology, today announced that the organization is one of only a handful of registry vendors to become a certified software vendor for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) / American College of Cardiology (ACC)® Transcatheter Valve Therapy (TVT) Registry. This comes on the heels of a successful $20M Series B fundraising round.

“According to data from the TVT registry, the use of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures has outpaced that of surgical aortic valve replacement (SAVR) due to promising patient outcomes,” said Matt Hollingsworth, CEO and Co-founder of Carta Healthcare. “Cardiologists are able to understand and monitor these outcomes thanks to the TVT Registry. We’re excited to be able to contribute to the registry using Atlas, our automated data abstraction solution that greatly improves the ease, speed, and accuracy of extracting data from medical records for registry submission.”

A collaboration between the STS and ACC, the STS/ACC TVT Registry provides a means to monitor real-world patient outcomes, including safety and effectiveness, related to transcatheter valve replacement and repair procedures. Participation in the TVT Registry satisfies recent requirements enacted by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for reimbursement of TAVR and transcatheter mitral valve repair (TMVR) procedures.

Atlas, Carta Healthcare’s data abstraction solution, allows hospitals to free up clinical staff by optimizing the ease, speed, and accuracy by which hospitals can get their data out of medical records and into the TVT registry. Atlas helps capture the necessary historical information for the initial procedure, 30-day follow-up, and one-year follow-up visits to meet the registry requirements, replacing traditional spreadsheet-based processes. The solution provides an easy way for registry submission teams to easily monitor if follow-ups are completed or outstanding. Additionally, Atlas’ industry-leading inter-relator reliability (IRR) scores provide confidence that data are accurate and trustworthy for value-based care reimbursement models as well as research and quality initiatives.
